Exposition permanenteMusée MaritimeThe Monique The silence of the deep

Welcome aboard!

The Musée Maritime de Nouvelle-Calédonie is located on the road to Nouville, within walking distance from the town centre. It was open in 1999, in the premises of the former maritime terminal, which were made available by the Noumea Port Authority.

The original Museum was extensively enlarged and renovated in 2013. Thanks to its large permanent collections of original objects and documents, the visitor is invited to discover the fascinating maritime history of New Caledonia, and in particular the extraordinary voyages of Monsieur de La Pérouse (1785-1788).

Throughout the year, the Museum regularly sets up temporary exhibitions on maritime themes.

For the children, the Museum proposes interactive exhibits designed to awaken a fascination for the maritime world through games and quizzes.
